A few youths attacked the bus with hockey sticks and rods and damaged the windowpanes when it was on the way to Moga.

The police have registered a criminal case under Sections 341, 323, 382, 511, 427 and 149 of the IPC against Arshpreet Singh of Jeonwala village (Faridkot), Harpreet Singh of Amargarh village (Bathinda) and three to four unidentified persons.

The conductor said they routinely use to pick up students from the bus stop located on the highway outside the polytechnic college, but yesterday the bus got stuck in a traffic jam at Kotkapura town and thus got late by 30 to 40 minutes than the scheduled time.

The students alleged that the bus operators had intentionally changed the time to avoid picking up students in the afternoon. They argued with the conductor and the driver on this issue and then suddenly attacked the bus with hockey sticks, bricks and iron rods, alleged the bus staff.

The police have begun investigations into the incident, but no one has been arrested so far.
