Another important issue the subscribers here are confronted with is the confusion about the exact data plan and its limit.

While the BSNL officials claim they have properly informed their subscribers about the plan, the heavy rush at the office portrays a different story.

“What to talk of 3G service, even the 2G services are not up to the mark. I have installed a BSNL broadband connection at my home, but its inefficiency has affected my working. I have opted for a particular plan…surprisingly a message popped up on my computer screen saying that I had crossed the usage limit and within seconds the connectivity was gone,” said Ramesh, a BSNL subscriber from Trikuta Nagar.

Even the government as well as private offices are not happy with the BSNL’s broadband service, said Vikrant. “It is perhaps the reason why private operators like Airtel, Aircel and Vodafone are having an edge over the BSNL,” he said.

“One can understand the limitations in rural areas, but even the subscribers from different areas of the city are suffering on account of poor delivery mechanism of BSNL. The services need to be rectified immediately, otherwise time is not too far when subscribers will lose confidence in the BSNL,” Vikrant added.

Gautam Lal, General Manager, Telecom District, Jammu, admitted that internet services were not satisfactory.

“No doubt, our internet services are not up to the mark. But we trying our level best to ensure that our esteemed subscribers do not suffer,” said Gautam Lal.

When asked about the sudden lost of broadband connectivity with a message that the data usage limit has been exceeded, the official said: “Yes, we have been receiving such type of complaints and efforts are being made to redress the issue.”
