Tourism Minister Dinesh Dhanai said the construction of a ropeway from Kaddu Khal to Surkanda Devi temple near Dhanaulti would begin by month-end. He was speaking at a cultural function organised on the successful culmination of Tehri Lake Mahotsav.

Dhanai said the ropeway would make the darshan of the temple easy.

He reiterated his commitment to creating the lake as a hub for adventure sports with the help of participation of the local people and the government. It would also create job opportunities for locals.

The work of constructing the ropeway at Khandkhala would also be initiated for the benefit of the people here, Dhanai added.

Eminent Garhwali folk singer Narendar Singh Negi enthralled the audience on the occasion.

Standup comedian Kishan Bagot brought smiles on the faces of the audience with his presentation.

Folk artistes Anil Bisht, Anuradha Nirala, Renu Bala, Padam Gusain and others presented several cultural items on the occasion.

Meanwhile, the detractors of the Tourism Minister termed the whole festival a big fiasco where around Rs 80 lakh were spent but it failed to boost the local economy.
