Tehri Dam road to remain open till 8 pm

Tehri District Magistrate Jyoti Neeraj Khairwal has ordered officials concerned to keep the gates of the road over the Tehri Dam open for traffic till 8 pm, instead of the earlier arrangement of 6 pm.

She said it was a long-standing demand of the people heading towards Pratapnagar from New Tehri to extend the traffic movement period on the road. The matter was raised during the visit of Union Minister of State for Home Kiren Rijiju on February 9. Rijiju had directed the authorities to extend the period by two hours considering the problems faced by locals while travelling on the old route which was too narrow and in a shambles.—TNS
