Rohtak-born actor Randeep Hooda has won accolades for his special appearance in the recently released ‘Sultan’. Nonetheless, he is not the only one from the Haryana heartland to have featured in the flick. Two other persons from Rohtak – a wrestler and a university employee – have also played key roles in the movie.
The 24-year-old, 6’8”, 140-kg wrestler, Rajpal Singh, was instantly selected by a team which was scouting for brawny youths in state akharas to act in the film.
Rajpal, who has been practising at Mehar Singh’s akhara in Rohtak for the past nearly 7 years, recounts that he was flown to Mumbai, where he shot for ‘Sultan’ with Salman Khan and other actors at Goregaon.
“Salman was very supportive and it was a memorable experience to act in the movie. I have already got a couple of other offers from film-makers, on which talks are in progress,” maintains Rajpal, who hails from a family of farmers.
Naveen Kumar, an employee at the Public Relations Department of Maharshi Dayanand University in Rohtak, has played the role of Salman’s father in the movie.
Naveen, who has acted in numerous Haryanavi plays, movies and music videos, observes that acting with Salman Khan was a great experience and he learnt a lot from the Bollywood superstar.
