The work on the Bhiwani-Loharu bypass is yet to begin even after the government compensated residents of over 10 villages of the district in 2013 for their land acquired for the project.

To ease traffic in the city, the previous government announced a bypass starting from Ninan village through Umravat village till Loharu in 2011.

After the acquisition of 250 acres in surrounding villages of Bhiwani, the government compensated farmers with the promise of speeding up the project.

Hoshiyar Singh, one of the farmers who got Rs 44 lakh against his land for the project, said he agreed to give away his land only for the reason that a bypass would be constructed on it and they would opt for some new job avenues.

“Farmers were told that the prices of their land would go up once the project was over, but it is yet to take off,” he said.

PK Bagri, executive engineer, PWD (B&R), said the work was likely to be started soon. Dharambir Singh, Bhiwani MP, said work would be started on the project by December.
