Guthi — the character played by leading comedian Sunil Grover in “Comedy Nights with Kapil” — has certainly raised the expectations of viewers and now a comeback on Sony’s “The Kapil Sharma Show” from April 23, he feels, won’t be a cakewalk.

In city to promote his debut Punjabi movie “Vaisakhi List”, he seems confident as his team has put in all efforts to give the best to the audience.

Talking to The Tribune, the comedian said he was fortunate to be cast in a Punjabi film. “Being a Punjabi, my heart beats for Punjab. People of this state are really warm and being here makes one feel good. Since my mother tongue is Punjabi, acting in the film has been quite comfortable. I enjoyed doing it,” he said.

Asked if he wished to do more Punjabi movies, Grover said he had received many offers but was waiting for the right project.

Hailing from Mandi Dabwali near Bathinda, Grover had studied in Chandigarh. Asked if his wife was comfortable with the female characters he played on screen, he said she was his critic. “As far as fat cheques come in my name, she has absolutely no problem. Jokes apart, these are all roles and everything is fine till we make everyone laugh,” he said.

On being asked if he was interested in politics, Grover looked around and said: “Aam Aadmi hain sab jagah.”
