Police Commissioner Paramraj Singh Umranangal, under Section 144 of the CrPC, 1973 (Act No 2 of 1974), has banned the sale of acid in all areas falling under the jurisdiction of Police Commissionerate for a period of two months.
He said it had come to his notice that acid was being sold illegally in areas falling under the jurisdiction of Police Commissionerate, Ludhiana. Umranangal has ordered that no person can sell acid without a proper license, which he would have to renew from time to time.
He added that the person selling acid would make sure that he maintains complete record such as identity card, voter card and complete address of the person buying it. “Acid cannot be sold to any person below 18 years of age. Also, the seller has to maintain a proper record of stock in a register and the seller has tosubmit the details at the area police station and SDM, in case of sale.
The Police Commissioner also ordered that all city residents would provide complete details of their tenants, servants/maids/cooks, gardeners, drivers, security guards and other such employees with the area police station or police post with immediate effect. He said in the absence of the record, sometimes these persons commit crimes, which results in serious consequences. These orders have been issued for a period of two months.
The CP also banned the consumption of alcohol in open at rehris/farhis, dhabas, other shops and other public places. He said due to consumption of alcohol in open, people indulge into fights which lead to law and order problem. These orders would remain in force till further orders.
Umranangal even banned the carrying of firearms into marriage palaces during functions. He said if any person carries a firearm into a marriage palace, the owner would be responsible for informing the area police station immediately. He said if the firearm was being used illegally inside the marriage palace, then action would be taken against the owner of the firearm as well as the marriage palace.
Meanwhile, the CP has also banned bursting of crackers on roads during marriage functions. He has also banned the disruption of traffic on roads due to marriage functions, along with ban on the entry of heavy commercial vehicles into city (Municipal Corporation area) from 8 am to 10.30 pm and entry of medium and light motor vehicles (commercial) from 12 noon to 5 pm. Umranangal has also banned the use of black films on all kinds of vehicles.
The CP further ordered that all hotels, dharamshalas and sarais would maintain complete record of persons staying there in the form of their driving license, Aadhar card and other identification proofs. He said any person without these documents should not be given a room and if any person violates these orders, then strict action would be taken against them.
