Top honours for Verka Gold
In the recent milk testing by Consumer Voice, Verka Gold has topped the full cream milk category with a score of 88 out of 100. Consumer Voice is a voluntary action group consisting of academicians, professionals and volunteers, working in the area of consumer education to create informed consumers. In the milk testing done by a NABL accredited laboratory, Verka registered the highest milk fat at 6.69 per cent. Apart from Verka, Madhusudan and Gokul, all other brands could barely meet the minimum requirement of Indian standard and FSS rules that is 6 per cent. Verka also has a lower saturated fat of 3.52 per cent which is good for health as high saturated fat leads to increase in levels of bad cholesterol in the blood. The tests also showed lower cholesterol content of 8.67mg/100g in Verka as against high cholesterol content of 12.48 mg/100g in Amul. Verka milk is also loaded with Calcium and Vitamin A, required for healthy bones and teeth, immunity and good eyesight.
