Residents of the city will face the brunt of prolonged traffic jams due to the proposed diversion of traffic on the Haridwar Road and Nehru Colony from tomorrow.
Traffic will be diverted as a sewer line is being laid in Nehru Colony and on the Haridwar Road. The traffic diversion plan will be in place for 10 days.
The work for laying the sewage line will be done between Nehru Colony Gurdwara and Fawara chowk, and from Him Palace and Mothrowala. The police would allow only two wheelers to ply through the construction site. The traffic would be diverted at Rispana Bridge crossing, Nehru Colony, Dharampur sabzi mandi, Dharampur Chowk, Rajeev Nagar, and Jogiwala.
SP, Traffic, Dheerandra Gunjyal said additional cops would be deployed to streamline traffic. The nodal agencies were told to take precautionary measures while laying the sewage lines in the city. They had been instructed to complete the work in the given time frame, the SP added.
Meanwhile, Dehradun-Haridwar highway would be closed on Friday due to repair work of railway crossing at Raiwala, and Mootichoor. The traffic would be diverted from Chilla range.
