Trident gets green nod to expand paper mill
New Delhi, August 28
Trident has received environment clearance for the expansion of its paper mill with improved technology and energy efficiency in Barnala district, entailing a cost of Rs 440 crore.
The company, which was established in 1993, has proposed to upgrade its paper machines to increase production of paper from 1.35 lakh tonnes per annum (TPA) to 2.1 lakh TPA and increase captive co-generation plant from 45.9 MW to 90.9 MW.
“Based on the recommendations of the Expert Appraisal Committee (EAC), the Environment Ministry has given approval to Trident Ltd for its paper mill expansion project,” a senior government official said.
The clearance to the project has been given subject to certain conditions, the official said. The cost of the project is estimated to be Rs 440 crore.
No additional land would be required and the company is likely to employ 100 persons. — PTI
