Twenty trains cancelled

There seems to be no respite for rail passengers who have been suffering for quite a while now due to bad weather causing delay and frequent cancellation of several long-route trains.
Passengers on the New-Delhi-Ludhiana-Amritsar and Jammu Tawi-New Delhi sections were the worst sufferers as the railways announced cancellation of some 20 trains including six trains connecting Amritsar and Jammu Tawi with the national capital, for the day.
According to railway officials, the 12460 Amritsar-New Delhi Intercity Express; 14681 New Delhi-Jalandhar Intercity Express; 14037 Delhi-Pathankot Express; 14645/14646 New Delhi-Jammu Tawi-New Delhi Shalimar Express and 22462 Shri Mata Vaishno Devo Katra-New Delhi Shri Shakti Express were cancelled due to operational reasons.
Some other long-route trains which also touch Delhi in the course of their journey were cancelled. These were the 11057 Mumbai (CST)-Amritsar Express; 12919 Indore-Jammu Tawi Malwa Express; 12926 Bandra (Mumbai)-Amritsar Pashchim Express and the 18238 Amritsar-Bilaspur Chhattisgarh Express.
Among other trains which did not make their scheduled run today were 12411/12412 Chandigarh-Amritsar-Chandigarh Intercity Express; 13049 Howrah-Amritsar Express; 13308 Firozepur-Dhanbad Ganga Sutlej Express; 14609 Rishikesh-Katra Hemkunt Express; 14674 Amritsar-Jaynagar Saheed Express; 15209/15210 Saharsa-Amritsar-Saharsa Jansewa; 15211 Darbhanga-Amritsar Jannayak and 19614 Amritsar-Ajmer Express.
