UERC hears UPCL petition on power purchase pact

The Uttarakhand Electricity Regulatory Commission (UERC) heard a petition filed by the Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL) for approval to the draft power purchase agreement (PPA) between the UPCL and Ms Beta Infratech Private Limited for the capacity of 107 megawatt (MW), at the commission’s office here today.

The commission has already approved the PPA between the UPCL and Gama Infraprop Private and Ms Sravanthi Energy Private Limited for the capacity of 107 MW and 214 MW, respectively. The supply of 70 MW hydropower from Ms Greenko Budhil Hydro Power Private Limited has been allowed to the licensee.

Accordingly, there will be a total addition of 498 MW capacity with the commissioning of Ms Beta Infratech Private Limited project. The commission also heard a UPCL’s petition in respect to ‘removal of minimum consumption guarantee (MCG) charges for private tubewell (PTW) connections’.

The commission heard another petition of the UPCL in respect to waiver and refund of penalty imposed by the commission and also a show-cause notice issued by the commission.

UERC chairman Subhash Kumar, secretary Neeraj Sati and director (finance) Deepak Pandey were present.
