Two weeks after an Uber cab driver allegedly raped a woman in Delhi, the state transport department has shut down web taxis in the state on the orders of the Union Home Minister Rajnath Singh. A copy of the order is with The Tribune.

Two bodies found

Two bodies were found in Sriganganagar district on Sunday. Harjit Singh (20) of Chak BGD village was allegedly killed with a sharp-edged weapon in Chak 16GB village. Ruby Ram Meghwal of Bareka village was allegedly beaten to death. Cases have been registered.

BSP leader dies in mishap

BSP Banga chief Sukhwinder Singh was killed when his car was hit by a speeding vehicle near Dhahan on Phagwara-Banga Road on Saturday. The accused driver fled the spot. A case has been registered.

3 booked in abduction case

Three persons have been booked for allegedly kidnapping two sisters at Chuslewar, near Patti. The accused have been identified as Dalbir Singh, Kawal and Jasbir Singh, residents of Maniala village. The victims are residents of Kullha village.

Students mesmerised audience by their dance, song and acting performances during the annual day function of Army School in Lalgarh Jattan military station near Sriganganagar.  Brigadier Sanjay Kadiyan was the chief guest. Other special guests included Colonel Prithvi Singh Chauhan and Colonel Sunil Anand, who felicitated outstanding students in different streams.

Poultry worker ends life

Body of Raj Kumar (22) was found hanging in a poultry farm on Sunday in Ninan village near Hanumangarh. He was alone in the campus. His parents in Bihar have been informed, the police said.

Minor girl abducted

The Phagwara police have booked an Urban Estate Phagwara resident, Avtar Singh, under Sections 363 and 366A of the IPC on the charge of abducting a 14- year-old Nepali migrant girl. Kal Bahadur, the father of the girl, alleged that the accused, who was also a labourer in a factory, had kidnapped his daughter after giving false assurance of marrying her. No arrest has been made so far.
