Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL) has drafted a concrete plan to shift 109 high tension (HT) lines from above residential colonies across the state. The shifting of lines would cost nearly Rs 1.09 crore to the government. The expenditure to shift the HT lines would be borne in the ratio of 35 per cent each by the state government and UPCL, respectively, while the rest 30 per cent would be met through MP or MLA funds.
UPCL would shift 11 and 33 KV HT lines across the state. As per plans, the maximum number of HT lines (27) would be shifted in Kotdwar, followed by Haridwar rural (9) and Dehradun (8). The lines would be also shifted in Haldwani, Vikasnagar, Uttarkashi, Roorke, Tehri etc.
UPCL spokesperson Madhusudan said Corporation managing director SS Yadav had instructed the technical staff to shift the HT lines above densely populated residential colonies in order to avoid any untoward incident in the state.
