Uttarakhand Electricity Regulatory Commission (UERC) chairman Subhash Kumar on Saturday directed electricity distribution agency Uttarakhand Power Corporation Limited (UPCL) officials to chalk out effective plan for improving bill collection system in the state. He said more number of customer care camps should be held in fringe parts of the state.
Subhash said UPCL should take potent measures for curbing shortage of manpower as lean manpower hampers bill collection system in the state. He said effective measures should be taken to increase revenue by curtailing outstanding electricity bills in the state. He emphasised the need to expedite the construction works on Vyasi, Lakhwar, and Kishau projects so that the power demand can be met.
Members of the state advisory committee raised the issues pertaining to prepaid metering, power purchase, distribution loss reduction, voltage wise rebate, temporary disconnection, power interruption and other issues related to UPCL in the meeting.
UJVNL Managing Director SN Verma pointed out that majority of hydropower plants were obsolete, and had completed their tenure and advocated for renovation, modernization and upgradation of hydropower projects across the state. UERC secretary Neeraj Sati, KP Singh Deepak Pandey, Prabhat Dimri, KK Gupta, Sudhir Singh Sisodiya and VK Garg attended the meeting.
