On the occasion of ‘Gita Jayanti’, birth of Shri Bhagwad Gita, observed on Shukla Ekadasi, various programmes were organised in the city today. The event was organised by Adhyatm Chetna Sangh at Kankhal.
Seers, Gita experts and scholars dwelled on the significance of Gita, urging people to follow the path shown by Lord Krishna to his disciple Arjuna.
Jagad Guru Shankaracharya Swami Raj Rajeshwaram Maharaj said Gita teaches us to work with dedication, without thinking of fruits or success.
Shankaracharya said Gita also preaches shunning evils like anger, hatred, jealousy and self pride, making the human being spiritually stronger and devoid of materialistic pleasures.
The winners of the recently held Gita quiz test, which included winner Chandan Saini, Tanish Lohani and Imama, were also felicitated.
SMJN college students Hina Khan and Bushra Khan chanted Saraswati Vandana, which was lauded by everyone. Delhi Public School, Ranipur, student Eklaviya Hari Tosh was given a special prize for memorising all shalokas of the Gita.
Adhyatm Chetna Sangh founder Acharya Karunesh Mishra shed light on the working of the institution. Revered seers Jagad Guru Ramanandacharya Rama Dharacharya Maharaj, Sharad Puri Maharaj, Swami Darshan Bharti, Swami Chidanand Muni Saraswati, Shyam Sunder Das Shastri, Mahant Mohan Das, Sant Muni Maharaj, Dr Sunil Batra, industrialist UC Jain, HK Vadhwa, Brajesh Sharma, Ashok Sardar, Mahavir Prasad Aggarwal, Gurukul Maha Vidyalya vice-chancellor Hari Gopal Shastri, Ajay Kaushik, Ganga Sabha president Purushottam Sharma, Achayra Rav I Dev Shastri, Narayan Singh Raina, Avinash Chand Ohri, Jagdeesh Lal Pahwa and Shriyansh Jain among others were present at the occasion.
