Veteran journalist passes away

Chandigarh, February 29

Antar Singh, a veteran journalist, passed away this morning. He suffered heart attack last week. Antar Singh (78) was associated with Punjabi Tribune since its launch in 1978.

Born in Seikhupura, now in Pakistan, in 1938, he migrated to India following the Partition and settled in Patiala from where he passed MA (Political Science) from Mahindra College. Later, he did LL.B from Punjab University.

He joined The Tribune in 1967 at Ambala. He covered education, sports, trade and religious issues. As a reporter, he became popular for always using a bicycle while doing assignments. He is survived by his wife Kuldeep Kaur and two daughters Dr Raminder Kaur and Kulpreet Kaur.

His last rites would be performed tomorrow at 3 pm at Sector 25 here.
