Dehradun, November 2

Brig KG Behl (retd), patron, Dehradun Ex-Services League, today said the Union Government had failed to provide what defence personnel deserved in terms of pay and allowances to boost their morale. He was reacting following the suicide by an ex-serviceman on the issue of one rank, one pension in New Delhi.

He said the problem was that politicians made some promises but when they went to bureaucrats they projected a different picture and turn down what politicians promised them.

He said there was a demand that certain personnel who were earlier below certain ranks in civil, had been put above them during the 6th CPC (Central Pay Commission) which needed to be set right. It was brought to the notice of the 7th CPC as well. He lamented that instead of removing that disparity further differences in equality between civil and defence were being created. — TNS
