- Residents of Budayan village in Jind district celebrated the birth of a newly born girl by performing ‘kuan pujan’ (worship of the well), which is usually done on the birth of a boy
- “Things are changing and these days girls are at par with boys. My family and I will provide all facilities to my daughter, Disha. My family wants to motivate other villagers to see girls equal to boys” said Sunil, Disha’s father
- There are 305 villages in Jind district and the Health Department has set up 33 rural registration centres in the district. Latest details show that in Ujhana, Ram Rai, Chhatar and Durjanpur registration centres, child sex ratio is 1,000, means the number of newly born girls is equal to that of boys — Parvesh Sharma
