The 47th edition of the All-India Pracheen  Kala Kendra Nritya and  Sangeet Sammelan opened to a grandiose start with a scintillating violin and shehnai jugalbandi, besides  Odissi dances  at Tagore Theatre here today.

The programme commenced with soulful jugalbandi by Pandit  Pallab Bandyopadhyay and Ustad Gauhar Ali Khan. Duo started with Raga yaman through an elaborate alaap, besides the jod alaap and a crisp jhalla before a composition in madhaya laya followed by fast paced drut in teen taal. Thereafter, the celebrated Odissi dance guru, Padmashree Ranjana Gauhar, and her troupe of dazzling dancers presented Shiv vandna. —OC
