INLD MP Dushyant Chautala today raised the issue of farmers in the Lok Sabha and demanded waiving of their loans.

He said the BJP had promised farm loan waiver in Uttar Pradesh, but was adopting double standards on the issue of farmers who were facing extreme hardships as input costs has exceeded income in the fields.

“If the BJP promised loan waiver to UP farmers, why the same benefit was not being extended to farmers in Haryana?” he quizzed.

The INLD MP said there should be no discrimination between farmers of different states. “The Finance Ministry was saying that the RBI felt that it will have negative impact on credit quality in farming,” he said.

Dushyant also raised doubts over the effective implementation of Pradhan Mantri Fasal Bima Yojana stating that around 44 per cent claims of farmers, who had suffered losses, had been rejected by the insurance firms in Haryana. He demanded that the district administration must ensure compensation to the affected farmers.

He also urged the government to raise the kisan credit cards limit of Rs 3 lakh to at least Rs 8 lakh. He said the loan up to Rs 3 lakh should be given to farmers without collateral.
