Walmart India, a wholly owned subsidiary of Walmart Stores Inc., announced an innovative entrepreneurship development programme for women-owned businesses (WOBs) with the aim of enhancing their skills, capability and sustainability. The company is working with WEConnect International and Vrutti to implement the training programme. The initiative is designed to help women entrepreneurs achieve higher levels of business growth through a training curriculum, which will be delivered through workshops and mentoring sessions with technical experts, established women-owned businesses (WOBs), academic experts and business managers. The training programme will aim to develop business acumen among women. The first phase of the programme will include participation of 25 WOBs in Delhi, Uttar Pradesh, Punjab, Andhra Pradesh and Telangana. Applications for the programme will soon be available on websites of Walmart India (www.wal-martindia.in), WEConnect International (http://weconnectinternational.org/en/india) and Vrutti (http://www.vrutti.org). Announcing this, Krish Iyer, president and CEO, Walmart India, said: “We are extremely delighted to support women-owned businesses as part of our supply chain in India. Enhancing the capacity of women entrepreneurs and providing them with the skills to scale up their business will ultimately help Walmart India continue to offer great assortment and quality local products to our customers.”

Mahindra Finance gets new licence
Mahindra Finance announced that its wholly owned subsidiary, Mahindra Asset Management Company Private Limited, has received a licence to manage the Mahindra Mutual Fund.
