Earlier, due to non-registration of web-based taxis in the city, the Transport Wing, UT, had no means of punishing or nailing down the operators. Web-based taxis are not registered under the radio taxi scheme as they operate under the all-India tourist permit. Operators have been asked to develop and include features in mobile application that enable customers to share their location with at least two persons and enable them contact the local police in case of emergency. — TNS
