Policemen deployed in the Cheetah force (motorcycle-borne police) have a reason to smile, as they will be getting a weekly off. Police officials say the weekly off will help them perform their duty better.
Policemen have been demanding a weekly off for long. A proposal was sent to the police authorities but it did not elicit a positive response. However, following green light from the higher authorities, the roster for weekly off has been sanctioned.
The SP (City) Ajay Singh has drafted the roster for weekly off. It will be implemented for both day and night shifts. Policemen deployed at the SSP office or the SP office will perform the Cheetah police duty on the day when the force personnel are on weekly off.
The city police have also made a little change in their routes.
They have deployed four Cheetah force personnel in the periphery of the city.
It may be recalled that 70 Cheetah force personnel are deployed in different police stations of the district. The force was launched with an aim to check street crimes or respond swiftly in case of crimes.
Sources say plans are being formulated to sanction a weekly off to policemen deployed in police stations and posts in the district.
SSP Sweety Agarwal says it will be the duty of the Cheetah force to maintain a diary of their day-to-day work. The Cheetah force personnel will be suitably rewarded, depending on their good work. It is the Cheetah force that normally reaches the crime spot in case of traffic congestion. The SSP says SHOs have been strictly instructed to maintain law and order and regulate traffic in the city. She has warned that strict action will be taken against the policemen found wanting in performance of duty.
