Work to beautify Karan Taal moves at snail’s pace
Karnal, May 1
The beautification and renovation work of the Karan Taal Park is going on at a snail’s pace even as the project has to meet the deadline in July.
The tender for installing a statue of Raja Karan in the centre of the ‘taal’ is yet to be issued. Sources in the Haryana Urban Development Authority (HUDA) said the project of the renovation and beautification would cost Rs 2.98 crore. “It is a joint venture of the Municipal Corporation (MC) and HUDA, in which the MC had submitted half of its share of the total amount,” said Sumedha Kataria, MC Commissioner.
It was a long neglected park, which had become the centre of gamblers and reflecting a bad image. After assuming the charge, CM Manohar Lal Khattar had announced to develop the park as an international tourist spot. He had laid the foundation stone of its renovation and beautification work in June 2015. “Fresh work on the project is being done by HUDA engineering and HUDA horticulture divisions,” said YM Mehra, executive engineer, HUDA.– TNS
