Writers, artistes come together to organise ‘bhakti sangeet’

The J&K Academy of Art, Culture and Languages (JKAACL), Jammu, celebrated Janmashtami by organising a “bhakti sangeet” programme at KL Saigal Hall in the academy complex here today.

The programme was organised in association with writers, artistes and people from the civil society. Dr Lalit Magotra, prominent Dogri writer and convener, Dogri Advisory Board, Sahitya Akademi, New Delhi, was the chief guest.

Dr Lalit Magotra, in his address, greeted the people on the eve of Shri Krishan Janmashtami. He added that such type of endeavours, especially from the academy, would help in safeguarding the cultural heritage of the state.

Earlier, Dr Arvinder Singh Amn, Additional Secretary, JKAACL, highlighted the programmes of the academy being organised in the different areas of the division, especially in connection with Hindi Divas.

Singers who participated in the programme were Marina Jamwal, Apurva Jamwal, Pankaj Pradhan, Arvind Kumar and Vishal Gupta. They were accompanied by Padmini Tickoo (sitar), Rakesh Anand (flute), Bahadur Singh (violin), Joginder Paul (tabla) and Vickey Gill (synthesiser).
