“It is the 25th such centre in the country. Apart from here, the World Trade Centers Association (WTCA) has been developing its centres at Mumbai, Pune, Bangalore, Chennai, Kolkata, Noida etc,” said Khair UL Nisha, a WTCA spokesperson, here today.

Giving details of the project, she said the 8-storey WTC building would have spaces for offices, retailer outlets, studios, entertainment and other facilities. It would take four years to complete the project with December 2019 being the deadline.

She claimed that the WTC would act as a catalyst to the economic growth of Chandigarh Capital Region (CCR) and would bring the region onto a global platform.

“The presence of a WTC would further bolster regional strategies to develop export-oriented economic zones by attracting foreign business and multinational companies to the region. In addition, the service offerings of the WTC here would improve the local business competitiveness and increase FDI inflow,” she claimed.
