Haridwar, April 14
Firebrand BJP parliamentarian from Gorakhpur Yogi Adityanath today supported the controversial statement of Upper House parliamentarian Shiv Sena Sanjay Raut regarding revoking of voting rights to the minority community.
Today, in Haridwar, Yogi Adityanath, who hails from Pauri Garhwal district of Uttarakhand, endorsed Raut’s statement, saying there is nothing wrong in it as they have been used as mere vote bank.
Five-time parliamentarian Adityanath said if voting rights of Muslims are taken away for a few years, vote bank politics would end.
He also urged the BJP-led NDA Government to pave the way for construction of Shri Ram Mandir in Ayodhya.
Reacting to the controversial statement of Yogi Adityanath, Congress Uttarakhand state president Kishore Upadhyay, in Haridwar, said Yogi Adityanath was neither a saint nor an able public representative.
Upadhyay condemned the statement of Sanjay Raut and it being endorsed by Yogi Adityanath.
“On the birth anniversary of Baba Bhim Rao Ambedkar, such a derogatory and communal statement is totally uncalled for. This has once again exposed the hidden agenda of the BJP and its allies. They want communal tension so that their vested interests are taken care of,” Upadhyay remarked.
He questioned the sainthood of Yogi Adityanath, saying that the MP hails from Garhwal region — a Dev Bhoomi — where people from all communities live with mutual harmony — How can a person, that too a so-called saint, give such anti-national and communal statements.
