Chandigarh University awarded young women achievers from the corporate world and fields of adventure, sports and social activity during a ceremony on the eve of International Women’s Day here today.
Ritu Tandon, Head, HR, Net Solutions, has been awarded with the Award of Appreciation for devoting 16 years towards international and national HR development for corporate world, while Japneet Kaur, a female mountaineer from Punjab, has been awarded with the Award of Performance to scale the highest peak in Europe (Mount Elbrus) and raise the issue of “Beti Bachao Beti Padhao” globally.
“Today’s women do not require empowerment as they have the strength to fight for their rights and can stand up to achieve anything,” said Ritu Tandon.
Chandigarh University, in association with Max Hospital, Mohali, also held a special lecture on “Healthy Heart for Women” in which a team of cardiologists, led by Dr Deepak, Director, CVTS, gave important tips to students and staff of the university on healthy living.
University Chancellor Satnam Singh Sandhu emphasised on women education to shrink the considerable gap in the literacy rate of males and females in the country.
A fashion show on the theme, ‘Healthy Habits and Healthy Mind’, choreographed by students of the university, was also presented on the occasion along with live performance by a rock band, Jashan.
