Youths on village tourism expedition
Dehradun, July 30
A group of 12 youths riding Enfield Bullet motorcycles and 17 riding cycles today started their journey from the Forest Research Institute in Dehradun to Goat village in Nagtibba in Tehri Garhwal district.
At the initiative of NGO Green People, the participants will be spending two days and one night experiencing the concept of inclusive village tourism to promote ‘reverse migration’.
Mani Mahesh Arora from Green People said the expedition was meant to make the youth have the experience of village tourism. It was a compliment to the path-breaking concept of ‘pay what you like’ home stay concept.
He said Green People is committed to helping marginalised micro Himalayan farmers and insulating their culture and environment from the onslaught of mordern world.
Anshumali Bhushan from Selaqui, Dehradun, said he had heard much about Goat village, which is a model village that has linked home stay with organic farming. — TNS
