In a case of alleged donation by a private school, a resident of Patiala lodged a complaint against Ryan International School with the regulatory body, which is formed under the Punjab Regulation of Fee of Un-aided Educational Institutions Act.

In his complaint, Jasjeet Singh alleged that at the time of admission to Ryan International School, the management forced him to pay the donation charges, which was capped at Rs 20,000.

The complaint reads, “I have already requested the principal to refund an amount of Rs 20,000, which was illegally charged/excessive amount in the name of “voluntary donation” for gaining the admission of my son Anmoldeep Singh in Class M-II in 2011 (Admission No. M00570), collected in the name of St Xavier’s Education Trust, Sector–C, Pocket-8, Vasant Kunj, New Delhi-110070, as the same is violation of Rule 11.1 of the Affiliation Bylaws of the CBSE Board, vide application dated 10-6-2016.”

Earlier, the parents have also approached the Union Ministry of Human Resource Development (HRD), Central Board of Secondary Education (CBSE) and other authorities concerned after being allegedly denied the issuance of school leaving certificate (SLC) of their child on one pretext or another.

The parents had written a letter in the name of the principal of the school and marked the copies to the HRD Ministry, CBSE, Punjab Chief Minister, Patiala Deputy Commissioner and Patiala Child Development Project Officer.

Jasjeet Singh said: “We have requested the school management to refund the amount, but to no avail. I have also shifted my child to another school of the city.”

He said after getting negative response from the school, he submitted the detailed complaint with the office of the divisional commissioner of Patiala.

Meanwhile, school authorities could not be contacted despite several attempts.
