Ludhiana, June 11
A National Lok Adalat for settlement of cases related to motor accident and insurance claims was organised at the Courts Complex under the directions of the National Legal Services Authority, New Delhi, and the Punjab Legal Services Authority.
It was organised under the supervision of AP Batra, in charge, District and Sessions Judge. A total of three benches were set up presided over by AP Batra, GK Dhir, presiding officer, District Consumer Forum, Ludhiana, and JS Chawla. For each bench, a social worker and a senior advocate were appointed as members.
A total of 112 cases were put up, of which 78 cases were solved amicably today. The insurance companies deposited a sum of Rs 5,31,14,700.
Rajesh Bhagat, CJM-cum-Secretary, DLSA, Ludhiana, said a large number of people took part in today’s Lok Adalat. He said on July 9, a Lok Adalat for cases related to electricity, water, telephone and other such services would be organised in Ludhiana.
