Taking a tough stand over the admission dispute in Maharishi Markandeshwar Medical College (MMMC), the High Court today directed the MMMC Principal, Solan, to admit students to the MBBS course as per the lists issued by the Counselling Committee, headed by the Director, Medical Education and Research.
Passing this order, a Division Bench comprising Chief Justice Mansoor Ahmad Mir and Justice Tarlok Singh Chauhan further directed the students to execute an undertaking before the court that if the fee was enhanced or revised, they would have to pay the revised fee from this academic session.
The court further directed the respondents to file a reply before September 26 and listed the matter for the final hearing on October 3.
The court passed these orders on a petition filed by the students, alleging that despite the direction of the state government, the management of the MMMC was not giving admission to them.
The session in all other medical colleges in the state had already been started from September 13 but the MMMC had denied admission to the students in the 50 per cent government quota seats. It was further alleged that some students had got a call from other medical colleges in the South also but they preferred the MMMC in their state.
