Batra theatre owner gets interim bail

A local court today granted interim bail to Naresh Batra, owner of the Sector 37-based Batra theatre, in the theft and obstruction in police duty case. He was granted interim bail till May 18 on the bail bond of Rs 50,000. Naresh was also asked to join the police investigation in this regard.
The city police had filed a chargesheet against him last Friday for theft after breaking locks of a showroom, trespassing, obstruction in the work of police and threatening to kill. However, he has already been granted bail in the trespassing and threatening to kill case. The next date is due for May 18.
It was on November 25, 2015, that the police had booked Naresh Batra and his son Neeraj Batra under Sections 453 and 506 of the IPC. The accused had got anticipatory bail from the court. After the police investigation, Sections 380 and 353 were also added.
It was a property dispute case under which Naresh and his brother’s son advocate Vikram Batra had bought an SCO in Sector 17. Naresh had 75 per cent share while Vikram had 25 per cent share in it. But, Naresh had forcibly locked the showroom, following which on the complaint of Vikram he was booked under various sections.
