CBI files chargesheet against ex-SHO, 2 cops

The Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) today filed the chargesheet in a graft case against Inspector Rajesh Shukla, a former SHO of the Sector 34 police station and two other policemen.

The chargesheet has been filed in the CBI court against head constable Mukesh Kumar and constable Dilbaj Singh, besides Shukla, who were arrested on September 3, 2014, while taking a bribe of Rs 10,000.

As per the chargesheet, the SHO was caught accepting bribe along with head constable Mukesh Kumar and constable Dilbaj Singh the co-accused in lieu of not harassing a parking contractor and to allow him run his business in the jurisdiction of the Sector 34 police station. The constable, who was accompanied by the head constable, accepted the bribe amount from the complainant contractor, Lalit Joshi, in Sector 34. Both of them were trapped by a CBI team and the SHO was also arrested with the amount at the Burail police post.

A CBI official said they had sufficient evidence on record, all of which had been included in the chargesheet.

As per the CBI chargesheet, the parking contractor claimed that he was taken to the Sector 34 police station on August 29, 2014 where SHO Rajesh Shukla levelled allegations that he consumed liquor in the parking area of Sector 34 and created nuisance for the public. He also got conducted his medical examination at the GMCH-32. He then threatened him that he will have to pay Rs 5,000 and Rajesh Shukla forcibly took Rs 10,000 from him on that day. However, no trace of liquor was found during his medical examination. Constable Dilbaj and head constable Mukesh Kumar contacted him over the phone and reiterated the demand of bribe of Rs 10,000 by Rajesh Shukla. It was then that he complained to the CBI.

The CBI said there were recordings of conversations between the complainant and the accused held during verification, pre-trap and post-trap proceedings, which were included in the chargesheet.
