Chandigarh, June 8
The CBI will summon the prime suspect in the Sippy murder case for questioning.
Sources said that associates and friends Sukhminder Singh Sidhu, alias Sippy, had been questioned during the past few days.
The sources said the prime suspect in the case, Sippy’s female friend, would soon be asked to join the investigations.
Sippy was shot dead on September 20 last year. According to the police, a .12-bore gun was used in the crime and four bullets were fired from it. Since the day of the crime, the UT police had been groping in the dark even though a special investigation team (SIT) was constituted to crack the case.
The victim’s kin had met higher-ups in the UT Administration, following which UT Administrator Kaptan Singh Solanki had, in January this year, ordered that the case should be transferred to the CBI. In April, the CBI had registered a case against unknown persons. — TNS
