Fatehabad, April 13
In a first, two local courts dealing with a case of gang- rape of a minor girl who had become pregnant, allowed medical termination (MTP) of her pregnancy and ordered DNA test of the three accused, including a juvenile.
The MTP of the victim was performed at the General Hospital, Fatehabad today and samples of her foetus were kept for the purpose of matching it’s DNA with the accused.
The victim had become pregnant after she was allegedly gang- raped by Rohtash, Satbir and a juvenile. A case was registered on the complaint of the victim’s father.
While Rohtash and Satbir were arrested and are in jail, the juvenile was produced before the Principal Magistrate, Juvenile Justice Board (PMJJB) Vivek Nasir and sent to the children reform home.
When the victim’s parents came to know that she was pregnant, they filed an application seeking permission to abort the foetus.
On March 21, 2015, the PMJJB had allowed the application after seeking opinion of the Civil Surgeon, Fatehabad.
The civil surgeon opined that there was no danger to the girl if the MTP procedure was conducted within the next four weeks.
Meanwhile, in another order the PMJJB has ordered the blood samples of the juvenile to be collected from the reform centre for the DNA test.
