Accused for stage-managing a robbery at his jewellery shop, Vinod Verma has got regular bail from the Punjab and Haryana High Court. Verma furnished bail bond in the court of the Chief Judicial Magistrate here.
Earlier, his bail plea was dismissed by the local court, following which he approached the HC. The owner of Forever Diamonds, Sector 17, had contented in the plea that he and his brother Ranjnish Verma have been falsely implicated in the case and have been made the scapegoats.
On May 1, the owners had complained that three robbers walked into the store and looted jewellery worth around Rs 14 crore at gunpoint. However, during investigation, the police probe found the robbery took place at the shop was allegedly concocted by the owners to claim the insurance money. Following which, the owners were booked and arrested.
The co-owners were booked by the police under Sections 420, 467, 468, 471, 201 and 120-B of the IPC at the Sector 17 police station.
Other accused Vaibhav Verma, a resident of Sector 49, Ankur Jolly, a resident of Zirakpur, and Shivani, sales girl at the shop, were also booked for their involvement in the case.
