The Jammu and Kashmir High Court has directed the Station House Officer of the Sumbal police station to file a chargesheet by November 24 in the Sadrakoot killing of October 5, 1996.
The directions were passed by Justice Hasnain Masoodi while hearing the petition filed by families of the victims. Seven members of three families, including women and children, were allegedly killed by government gunmen.
The Station House Officer (SHO) of the Sumbal police station has been directed to be present in the court on November 24.
The SHO has informed the High Court that the statements of five witnesses had been recorded under Section 164-A of the CrPC before the lower court. He has sought more time to conclude the investigations into the case.
