Lt Col who assaulted cop released on bail

A day after a Lieutenant Colonel in the Indian Army was arrested for assaulting a head constable, he was produced in a court and released on bail today. The police had sought his judicial custody.
The Chandigarh Police today sent a detailed report of the incident, including a copy of the FIR against Lt Col Vikramjeet Singh Pandher (47), to the Director, National Security Guard (NSG), Manesar, Haryana.
Yesterday, the police had arrested the officer posted on deputation with the NSG for assaulting a head constable in full public view at the airport light point. The head constable had stopped the officer’s vehicle for not using the HSRP on his Chevrolet Cruze car when he was slapped and punched in the face.
The police arrested Lt Col Pandher in a case registered under Sections 332, 353 and 186 (assault to deter a public servant from performing duty, voluntarily causing hurt to a public servant and obstructing a public servant in the discharge of public functions) of the IPC.
