Pvt colleges get HC nod to fill MDS mgmt quota seats

Chandigarh, June 10
Just about two days after members of the Punjab Private Self-Financed Dental and Medical Colleges Association were virtually barred from carrying out admissions to the MDS management quota seats, the high court today gave them a conditional go-ahead.
The directions by Justice Augustine George Masih came on the association’s petition filed through counsel Manish Kumar Singla. It was seeking directions for quashing letters dated June 8 issued by Director, Research and Medical Education, Punjab. The communications made it clear that candidates, who had not appeared in AIPGDEE-2015 could not be admitted. The letters also made it clear that candidates could be admitted to BDS and MDS course only on the basis of counselling by Baba Farid University of Health Sciences. No college would admit candidates at its own level, it was added.
Singla contended that the communications were contrary to the notification dated March 25 issued by the department.
