The UT Consumer Disputes Redressal Forum has directed Star CJ network to pay Rs 2,500 compensation for causing mental agony and physical harassment to the complainant after the bedsheets sold by them faded in the first wash.
The forum has also directed the network to refund Rs 4,699 to the complainant and to pay Rs 5,000 towards the cost of litigation.
The complainant, Hemlata, stated that she had ordered a set of bedsheets from Star CJ being taken in by the advertisement.
She ordered a set of five bedsheets worth Rs 4,699. In the advertisement, the sellers assured that the bedsheets were of a very fine quality and were of fast colours. The complainant received the delivery of the bedsheets in July, 2014.
According to the complainant, she used the said bedsheets but the colour thereof faded in the very first wash. The bedsheets were giving a dirty look, which show that the same were of inferior quality and were totally opposite to the assurances given by the sellers.
The forum stated that Star CJ network failed to redress the genuine grievance of the complainant despite receipt of the legal notice which itself amounts to deficiency in service and unfair trade practices.
