The court of Chief Judicial Magistrate here today extended by two days the police remand of Khalistan Tiger Force chief Jagtar Singh Tara. He was last sent to four-day police remand by the court on February 9.

Tara’s counsels Harpal Singh Khara and Harinder Singh Akalia argued that the extension would be of no use as the police had failed to secure anything incriminating against their client in the past four days.

He was produced in the court along with Amarjeet Singh of Ropar, who was arrested by the Bathinda police for allegedly plotting a conspiracy in connivance with the extradited militant.

The police had also arrested Ramandeep Singh Sunny of Bathinda who allegedly met Tara in Thailand. The police alleged that Amarjeet had deposited money in Sunny’s account, and that they wanted to know what was conspiring between the trio.

SAD (Panch-Pardhani) vice-president Hardeep Singh and SAD (Amritsar) district president Parminder Balianwali raised pro-Khalistani slogans outside the court in Tara’s favour. He said similar protests would be held after two days when the his police remand expired.
