District and Session judge, Shimla, Varinder Singh today granted regular bail to Himachal Youth Congress president Vikramaditya Singh, son of Chief Minister Virbhadra Singh, in the case relating to clash between BJP and Youth Congress (YC) workers at the state BJP office at Chakkar on January 29.
On February 7, the court had granted interim bail to Vikramaditya till today and had asked him to join police investigations. The police also gave its report to the court, which directed Vikramaditya to join the investigations as and when required.
About 12 activists were injured in the clash when YC workers, led by Vikramaditya, were demonstrating outside the office of the BJP to protest the Land Acquisition Ordinance promulgated by the Union Government.
Both the BJP and the Congress had blamed each other for the clash and the BJP was insisting on a CBI enquiry into the matter. Four BJP workers were injured and one Rajesh Sharda, who had received serious eye injury, is still under treatment at the PGIMER, Chandigarh. The Congress has claimed that three YC workers were also injured and that the YC protesters were peaceful.
