1 held with banned injections

Chandigarh: The police arrested a resident of Dadu Majra colony while possessing 80 banned injections. The police had information regarding the accused, Sikander (32), who was supplying injections in the area. A trap was laid and he was arrested from near the taxi stand at Dadu Majra. The police said the accused used to sell one injection for Rs 250. A case has been registered. — TNS

Purse snatched

Chandigarh: Two motorcycle-borne miscreants snatched a purse from a woman in Sector 22 on Tuesday evening. Sources said the snatchers targeted Manpreet Kaur, a resident of Sector 22. The purse contained Rs 1,600 and ATM cards. The incident took place near Aroma light point. The police have initiated an investigation. — TNS

One killed in road accident

Mohali: A scooterist was killed after he was hit by a speeding car near Chaumajra village on Tuesday. The deceased, Ranjodh Singh (60) of Lajju Khera village, was going towards Aerocity to see the progress of construction work at his house when a car coming from the opposite direction collided with his scooter. He was taken to a hospital where doctors later declared him dead. The driver of the car fled leaving the vehicle behind. The car has been impounded. — OC
