3 Gurgaon hoteliers held for hiding info on tourists

The police have made elaborate security arrangements in view of Independence Day. Commandos of the Haryana Police and Special Weapons And Tactics (SWAT) carried out checks in hotels today.

The police were deployed at public places, including bus stations and railway stations.

The police have been carrying out drills in hostels, guest houses and PG accommodations. During one such raid on Friday night, Afghanistan’s Shamm Habib (33), owner of Kabul Hotel opposite Medicity Medanta Hospital, was arrested for not informing the police about foreigners staying in the hotel. The police said Habib’s visa for staying in India had expired.

The manager of Grace Hotel on New Railway Road was arrested for not informing the police about the stay of a Canadian. The owner of Heritage Guest House in Sector 38 was also arrested.

All three were arrested under Section 14 of the Foreigners of Act, 1992. They were sent to judicial custody.

Arrangements were put in place at the Delhi-Gurgaon border, a sensitive place where cars are checked. Vehicles coming from Jaipur are being checked. — TNS
