5 youths held for selling heroin

The Jagraon police have arrested five youths for allegedly selling heroin in the area. The youths were arrested during the ongoing investigation related to a clash between two groups of youths in Jagraon during the last week.
The accused have been identified as Jagraj Singh, Jagdeep Singh alias Jaggi, Hartej Singh, Manjinder Singh and Atinderpal Singh. The police have also seized 3 gm of heroin from their possession. Besides, the police have also booked eight unidentified youths in the case but they are yet to be arrested.
As per information, the accused were arrested during separate raids conducted by a police team, led by ASI Harmesh Kumar, last evening and today.
Investigation officer ASI Harmesh Kumar said the youths were arrested during the ongoing investigation related to a clash that occurred in the Sadan Market area of Jagraon on April 6.
“During the investigation, we came to know that all these youths were drug addicts and some of them used to sell heroin. The clash between two groups took place because of a dispute over money”, said the ASI.
A bloody clash had broke out in the Sadan Market area of Jagraon on April 6 when two groups of youths clashed with each other. The police had arrested two youths from the spot. During the preliminary investigation, the police learnt that the clash took place because of a dispute over money between some youths who were addicted to drugs.
The police have registered a case under the NDPS Act against all 13 accused at the Jagraon City Police Station and further investigation is on. The police have arrested the five accused while the eight unidentified youths are still absconding. The ASI said the police had been conducting raids to arrest the remaining accused and they would be arrested soon.
Eight accused yet to be arrested
The police have also seized 3 gm of heroin from the possession of the accused. Besides, the officials have also booked eight unidentified youths in the case. However, they are yet to be arrested. The accused were arrested during separate raids conducted by a police team led by ASI Harmesh Kumar.
