Accused of rape bid, AAP activist held

Hardip Singh, AAP ‘leader’ from Lehal Kalan village (near Lehragaga), was arrested today from Dhindsa village falling under Moonak police station.
He has been accused of attempting to rape a 15-year-old Dalit girl. Since the registration of the case 4-5 days ago, Hardip has been absconding.
Pritpal Singh Thind, SSP, Sangrur, said Hardip claimed that he had been falsely implicated. He told the police that he was an AAP leader and knew Sanjay Singh and Arvind Kejriwal well.
Jasbir Singh Jassi Sekhon, AAP convener of Sangrur Lok Sabha constituency, has already denied that Hardip was a coordinator or president of any unit of the party. He admitted that Hardip was a party supporter from Lehal Kalan village.
