Amritsar youth held with opium

The Una police arrested a youth of Amritsar district carrying 260 grams of opium on the Sapori bridge of the Swan River tributary last night.

According to SP Anupam Sharma, accused Mehel Singh, resident of ward number 9 of Rasulpur Kalan village under Jandiana police station of Amritsar district, was riding a motorcycle when he was stopped by a police party.

The SP said a plastic bag attached to the handle of the motorcycle had 260 grams of opium, adding that the accused had been arrested and a case under Section 18 of the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic substances Act been registered.
